Hemp Smoothie Bowl

Hemp Smoothie Bowl,

Ok.. so I know the photo is not the usual staged photo, with great lighting etc. etc… this just me holding my smoothy bowl while sitting on my porch and thinking “I have to share this immediately!”  So here is my smoothie bowl story…

Well I have to confess…. I have been seeing a lot of smoothie bowls on Instagram and I thought, honestly if I see one more photo of a smoothie bowl, I am going to scream… I mean what is the big deal about them anyway?

Then while on vacation in California I happened to stop at a cafe that sold nothing but smoothie bowls and smoothies so I thought here is my opportunity to try one of these…. AND….. it was a life changing experience! lol.  Seriously though, I know I can get a little too excited about great tasting healthy food, but this is truly DELICIOUS!!

It’s cool, crunchy, flavourful and tastes like dessert for breakfast (or whenever you want to eat one!).  It is also quite filling and holds me off easily until lunch..just try to eat it slowly and not devour it in 30 seconds like I did!  Enjoy the flavours and texture. I  especially love them after a long hot run… so refreshing!!

So here is my version of the smoothie bowl I got in Cali… I hope you enjoy it… and if you do… please let me know… I love sharing in the excitement!!!  I am pretty sure this won’t be my only smoothie bowl post so beware!!

The key to “The smoothie Bowl” is to use frozen fruit and not a lot of liquid.. this will give it that ice creamy like texture that you can eat with a spoon.   Get your blenders ready!!!!

Stay cool,

Instructions
  1. In a high speed blender... blend frozen blueberries, strawberries, 1/2 banana, hemp protein, and peanut butter in a blender. Add hemp milk to reach desired consistency (should be thickish light soft ice cream) and blended well, no chunks. You don't want it thin like a drinkable smoothie.
  2. Scoop out into bowl and top with 1/4 banana, hemp seeds, cocoa nibs (if using), granola and drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired.
